Nick Murdock

J. Nicholas "Nick" Murdock began the first major litigation to enforce the Wyoming Royalty Payment Act (WRPA) in the early 1990s and has been active in the field since then. He filed the first class-action suits in Wyoming to see that the WRPA provisions were observed. He principally negotiated the class settlement with BP Production Company as well as the settlements for over 10 other class-action lawsuits involving the WRPA.
Murdock was born in Denver, Colorado. He earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics degree from Creighton University. After attending graduate school at Boston College and Tufts University, he attended the University of Wyoming, College of Law and graduated from there with honors after serving as editor-in-chief of the Land and Water Law Review. He has lived and practiced law in Wyoming for almost three decades.
 Nick and Maggi His practice focuses on difficult litigation, both in the commercial and personal injury areas. He is the recipient of several awards and honors, including the 2004 Wyoming State Bar Community Service Award in which he was cited for his distinguished public service to the people of Wyoming. The award is given by the Wyoming State Bar and the Wyoming State Bar Foundation. In addition, he was selected by his peers to be included in The Best Lawyers in America 2005 and 2006 editions.
He and his wife, Maggi, have two children: Aubrey, who attends college in Chicago, and Amanda, who is a pediatrician. They have three grandchildren, Alexa, Zachary and Kendall.
